The NYC subway system has 443 miles of underground track and the same amount of evacuation pathways; the system has 137 underground railway stations all using fluorescent lamp (tube) lighting systems.
Most other cities mass transit systems are also lit using fluorescent lamps.
We have Interviewed hundreds of train & bus operators and mass transit facilities directors and station managers - all have told us that their Emergency Lighting Systems are generally inadequate; all discovered that in actual emergencies or during tests that Emergency Lighting systems were often defective due to improper maintenance of lamps and batteries, Most expressed that they had inadequate numbers of Emergency Lights to safely illuminate their stations, light up passenger platforms, waiting areas or exit passageways when power is suddenly lost. This poses a major safety threat. Subway, train and bus passengers waiting on platforms, in stations, walking through underground corridors or g_d forbid passengers evacuating through exit tunnels-all of these people must do so in almost total darkness and only can truly only safely evacuate when assisted by the transit system's emergency personnel with flashlights and lanterns. This should not be occurring as there is a simple and cost effective method to provide fail safe lighting for all emergencies.
Lumenite Light Sleeves are used on all fluorescent lighting tube lamp fixtures in place to illuminate stations, stairwells, corridors, underground tunnels, exit routes, fire escapes, hallways, elevators, car parking areas, as well as use on train platforms and train cars. Light Sleeves are ideally installed on small percentage 25% of all fluorescent fixtures throughout a station (or facilities area) so in the event of sudden power failure, the transit systems occupants are never left totally in the dark or subjected to dangerous blackout situations.
Lumenite Light Sleeves guarantee fail-safe Emergency Lighting for evacuation system that does not rely on the main or alternate power source. They're designed to work every time and require no periodic testing or maintenance. If the facilities fluorescent lights have been on prior to power loss, the Lumenite Light Sleeves are charged for a minimum of 8 hours of passive Emergency Lighting that illuminate without power. When the fluorescent lamps burn out- a new lamp is inserted into the sleeve and they're good to go to provide fail safe emergency lighting. The Lumenite Light Sleeves never need to be replaced and last forever. Lumenite Light Sleeve can even function under water! They light up totally power free,
This is fail-safe emergency lighting that works in every possible instance.
At present Lumenite Light Sleeves are used by BART, numerous UK trains, in Poland, Belgium, France, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Malaysia, Adelaide Australia, and Venezuela.
